Ways to Promote your New Business

Promotion of your new business should always be high on a business owner’s list of things to do, but that doesn’t mean it should be a big part of the budget as well.   However there are a few ways to promote your business without breaking the bank.  Pick a few  and try them out for a month but be sure to ask customers how they heard about you so you know what works and what doesn’t!

Here is a few a ideas that might help you get started.
  1. REFERRALS:   Getting customers to recommend you is probably the best way to get your name out there.  With a referral you know that something nice was said about you thats why they chose to do business with you.  And if you have great customer service skills believe me they will tell their friends and their friends will tell their friend and so on.
  2. BUSINESS CARDS: As silly as this sounds, use business cards, and use both sides, for example put your contact details, web address, name and so on, on one side, and perhaps on the other a few examples of what you have to offer/sell. If you don't use both sides you are losing out on valuable advertising space.
  3. PRINT FLYERS:  They are inexpensive, easy to design and even easier to distribute. The key is to focus on your audience and target your promotional skills towards them to get the best outcome from your flyers. Electronic flyers are as effective as traditional flyers, yet more economical and environmentally friendly. With e-flyers, you don't have to bother with flier printing and you can send an infinite number of flyers with the click of a button.
  4. FACEBOOK:  Build a Facebook Page and work to engage those that are interested in your product or service. Facebook is so much more robust than it ever was! Create groups, events, and photo albums. Link to your Facebook profile from your site and allow visitors to your site to like and share your content.
  5. TWITTER: Start Twittering or start doing it much better than you are now – it's a great way to networking with like-minded individuals.
  6. LOCAL LISTINGS:Make sure your Bing and Yahoo Local listings are up to date.
  7. PINTEREST: If you have visually stimulating content that is relevant to the site's demographic, you can find great success right now.
  8. CAR WRAP SIGNS: This is a very effective way of advertising a local business and gets seen as you drive along and while you are parked up. The signs can be permanent or you can also get magnetic versions that can be taken off if you don’t want to draw attention to your vehicle out of hours.   This works best if you keep your van or car clean.
